Mark Millar talks Kick-Ass 2
Mark Millar has been talking about the sequel to Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass and it sounds like there are still a few hurdles to overcome before it can start production."The thing about the first movie is that it kind of exploded all our careers. People forget, but this was a $28m indie movie made in the UK. It grossed $100m at theatres and made the same again and more on DVD and Blu-ray and got amazing reviews. So everybody involved suddenly got hired for a million different things, and re-forming the band again would be impossible," he told the Los Angeles Times.Surely the cast would be up for a return in Kick-Ass 2?"Hopefully, we can use the same actors if and when we do a sequel, but getting Matthew to direct or Jane to write a movie at this budget would be very difficult because they're superstars now and they have projects of their own," Millar said."But there's a window because the actors are all supposed to be in high school and if this came out after 2013, for example, that window would have closed."So how does he see things progressing?"I'd imagine, if this happens any time soon, that Matthew will produce and possibly co-write, like George Lucas did with The Empire Strikes Back, and hire a new director."Just when TF is giving up all hope of seeing Kick-Ass 2 come to life, Millar throws us a lifeline: "I obviously know more than I can say, but I think people will be pretty happy with the conversations we've been having."Phew!Watch Movies Online Free

The Time Daniel Radcliffe Told Us That He's Never Seen 'Star Wars'
You'll often hear 'Harry Potter' fans compare the film series to 'Star Wars.' For devout followers of Hogwarts's most-impressive student, the juxtaposition is done as a way to explain their fandom to a slightly older audience -- ones who used to camp out overnight in anticipation of the next chapter in the story of Luke and Leia. 'Potter' star Daniel Radcliffe was in NY on Monday to do some very advanced promotion for his new film 'The Woman in Black' (which is set for release on Feb. 3, 2012), and in a conversation with Moviefone he revealed one potentially dirty little secret: Daniel Radcliffe has never seen 'Star Wars.' Moviefone: What's your opinion of the comparisons between 'Harry Potter' and 'Star Wars.' Do you enjoy 'Star Wars'? Daniel Radcliffe: [sighs and starts smiling] Wait, you've never seen 'Star Wars'? I know, and now this information is going to be out there in the world. Wow. That's hard to do. I know. Yeah, I know. It's really bad. So not any of the six movies? I saw 'The Phantom Menace,' and everyone's like, "You saw that one! You didn't see the originals?!" I know! I was ten! I didn't know any better! I have the Blu-rays on me if you really want to watch them. Oh, you can't give me the Blu-rays! I think, actually, somebody is planning on getting them for me. Here's my opinion, though. Not on the films or the filmmaking, because I'm sure they're amazing and incredible. And I know that I would love them because I'm a geek -- so I would definitely get into them. What 'Star Wars' and 'Potter' have in common is a huge devoted fan base. Where they differ, I think there is a -- and this is my perception, I may be completely wrong -- I think there is a slightly more balanced split between the sexes in the fan base of 'Potter.' I associate 'Star Wars' as being a predominantly male thing. And I think 'Potter' is split more evenly. The difference is also that any kind of a franchise where a world is created will then engender a generation of nerds. Fantastic! Nerds are the best things in the world. I think of myself as a nerd. What was the Bill Gates thing? "Be nice to nerds, you'll probably be working for them one day." But I think the difference is because 'Potter' started out as a book, it's created a generation of literary nerds in a way that 'Star Wars' perhaps didn't. But, basically, it's all the same. I mean, I do think of 'Potter' as being this generation's 'Star Wars.' It's something that an entire generation as lost themselves in and it's a meticulously created, detailed world. So I do think that's the closest thing to compare it to. For more from Daniel Radcliffe on his first post-'Potter' film role in 'The Woman in Black,' check back to Moviefone closer to its release next year. Watch the trailer for the film below. EMMYS: Lead Comedy Actor Handicap
Ray Richmond is contributing to Payment dates 2011 Emmy coverage. Heres his scorecard assessing the Outstanding Lead Comedy Series Actor race. Steve Carell, Work NBC Why He Was Nominated: Its Carells sixth consecutive nomination for his role since the dunderheaded Michael Scott round the Office, and also the departure within the NBC comedy the 2009 spring produced a sizable-time farewell. Credit multi-level marketing together with the very fact Carell has wide recognition with the industry. You obtain the feeling he may have continued to be relating to this show for 15 many been nominated every time. Why He Must Win: It literally is becoming or never, and Carells submission for your Emmy (his swan song, “Goodbye, Michael”) will be a potent combination of pathos, tears and mirth which created a jerk for author/professional producer Greg Daniels teleplay. In case that's insufficient, theres the feeling that Carells body at work around the demonstrate that began existence just like a warmed-over imitation in the British edition warrants a golden sendoff. Carell didnt make an effort to squirm from his TV contract despite as being a feature guy, a author and academy member notes. That scores large points. Previously, both Nicole Kidman (Sex as well as the City) and Michael J. Fox (Spin City) have won trophies around the final lap. Why He Cant Possibly Win: Well, he hasnt taken the main one factor home in five previous tries, so its potential Carell simply features a large “Bridesmaid tattoo etched on his temple. Work may also be seen as getting lingered a tad too extended within the dance by some. Its potential he already blew his best shot here: when the series acquired top comedy honors in 2006. And sentiment doesn't necessarily carry your entire day, since the constantly passed-over John Goodman (-for-7 for Roseanne) could attest. Jim Parsons, The Big Bang Theory CBS Why He Was Nominated: That is Parsons third consecutive nomination for playing Large Bang nerd supreme Sheldon Cooper, and since the safeguarding category champion he remains regarded as as inside the Hollywood creative community as possibly Televisions funniest character. It made his 2010 win appear virtually preordained following a wide view that hed been snubbed the prior year. To make certain, the guy isn't any more Televisions best-saved secret. Why He Must Win: Everybody still loves Jimbo. Plus, it might only help that Large Bang now carries common TV academy bona fides following its first nom for Outstanding Comedy Series. Plus it stands to help greater than hurt that Parsons castmate Johnny Galecki is nominated alongside him. Thats happened formerly with only two pairs of sitcom lead stars: Jack Klugman and Tony Randall for your Odd Couple (1971-75) and Matthew Perry and Matt LeBlanc for Pals (2002). Lastly, individuals who win in this category have lately repeated: Tony Shalhoub (2005-06) and Alec Baldwin (2008-09). Why He Cant Possibly Win: Theres that whole splitting in the election factor including artists within the same series. After Parsons snared the prize a year ago, there is no more the insistent drumbeat to recognition him. That chatter has gone to live in Carell, which has ignore options. Alec Baldwin, 30 Rock NBC Why He Was Nominated: You can't have this category and not nominate Baldwin as extended as 30 Rock is about the environment and hes some of it. Just like a producer notifies me, You understand theyre all scared to dying that Alec follows-through on his promise and step away after his contract expires this season. I'm speaking about, how would you have a very 30 Rock without Jack Donaghy? Legendary figures similar to this surely dont plainly everything frequently. Because of this Baldwin has acquired a jerk all five occasions hes been qualified. Why He Must Win: Another triumph for Baldwin (following victories in 2008 and 09) is at the whole world of possibility. For consideration this time around around, he published the episode “Respawn,” through which he makes Kenneth (Jack McBrayer) make believe you be his kidnapped wife. Maybe voters will toss him another statue just like a gift with the expectation it'll convince Baldwin to stay a while, as his well-known past public meltdowns fade from memory. Why He Cant Possibly Win: If you'll probably reward a middle-aged actor in this category, Carell is probably obtaining the jerk over Baldwin inside the interest of justness. The thrill connected his work has likewise gone away for an individual the academy figures his been sufficiently feted. It's also feasible for Baldwins politics (and gossips for the future NY mayoral run) are becoming a turnoff. Louis C.K., Louis Foreign exchange Why He Was Nominated: Really, there's nothing that Louis C.K. didnt get nominated with this particular year. He acquired four Emmy nods in many, including for writing and picture editing additionally to his acting. (He lost the initial two last Saturday but has two more options today.) Nobody showed up as much Emmy noms this season as did this person, and also the getting designated for your Foreign exchange comedy that they does everything but prepare lunch supplies intriguing options. Why He Must Win: This is where things really get interesting. Louis might be the man whom every critic and comedy industry analyst in the united states yearns to find out accomplish an upset. Theres nobody in comedy at this time around who is able to touch C.K. if this involves pure hard-core recognition, which he gets the same edgy chops that aided pave Ough Gervais’ win in this category in 2007 for HBOs Accessories. A voter described, Dont discount the fact Louie was running original episodes through the voting period. Taking into consideration the short recollections were talking about, that absolutely helps his chances. Why He Cant Possibly Win: C.K. is still less than mainstream enough to snare a decidedly mainstream award, as well as the fact his series airs on Foreign exchange looks like it's more curse than blessing. This isn't a network that instantly jumps inside your ideas when thinking about quality comedy, even if Louis is beginning to change that. This looks being the season when sentiment (Carell) trumps cutting-edge (C.K.). Johnny Galecki, The Big Bang Theory CBS Why He Got Nominated: After his castmate Parsons showed up nominations two occasions in succession, its finally Galeckis submit the Emmy dance. Its his first nomination, the one that wasnt expected but that lots of see as deserved for his are Large Bangs Leonard Hofstadter. Credit it for the academys full-on embrace in the CBS multi-camera comedy just like a quality player. Why He Must Win: Galeckis published episode, “The Benefactor Factor,” colorfully showcases his comedy chops, finding Leonard requiring to fight the advances from the older lady. The academy every once in awhile likes to show its readiness to reward first-timers and perform the unforeseen factor. Thats where Galeckis best chance resides. Why He Cant Possibly Win: A lot more likely scenario is always that he and co-star Parsons stop one another. Due to the fact Parsons already has won does not necessarily mean voters are likely to spread the wealth along with other Large Bang talent. Upsets happen, but not likely that certain, as Galecki isn't nearly sufficient round the buzz chart. Maybe in another few years. Matt LeBlanc, Episodes Showtime Why He Was Nominated: Following a disaster that was the Pals spinoff Joey, the academy was possibly searching showing LeBlanc it forgave him. That describes that certain, the heavens fourth nomination after producing nods for Pals in 2002, 03 and 04. Hes still trying to find his first win, for representing a make believe version of themselves (no small task) round the first-year Showtime comedy. Why He Must Win: If LeBlanc can be a extended shot to simply accept gold here, the actual fact he was honored for Episodes – which has broadcast only seven episodes so far, and people in the start of the season — demonstrates the males recognition. While you series comedy author confided in my opinion, Nobody who I realize thought LeBlanc stood a performance this good in him. It absolutely was a stealthily difficult role he nailed. His submission was the shows Season 1 capper through which LeBlanc posseses an affair getting a married lady. Why He Cant Possibly Win: Never say never, but Episodes is just too far removed the radar for LeBlanc that require thinking about a collection contender. Hes also prone to lose points for representing themselves, which most view becoming an acting slam-dunk — even though it's not.

Renny Harlin 'Begged' to Get Out of Making 'Cutthroat Island'
Once-hot action director Renny Harlin is now saying he knew 'Cutthroat Island' -- a.k.a. the megaflop that basically sunk his career -- was box-office suicide, and that he and then-wife Geena Davis "begged" to get out of making it. "Originally, Michael Douglas was supposed to star," Harlin told KCRW. "[Geena and I] begged to be let go... And I don't think I've ever said this in any other interview. We begged." Harlin confides, "Geena was scared mindless about headlining this film. We felt that a pirate movie with a female lead was suicidal, but we were contractually obligated." During the interview, Harlin puts all the blame on the now-defunct production company, Carolco, which wouldn't release him and Davis from their contract and told him flat-out, "We don't care if the script is not good." The director reveals, "I personally spent a million dollars of my own money," by hiring Marc Norman, who won an Oscar for 'Shakespeare in Love' to work on the script. The movie cost $98 million and earned a woeful $10 million. At the time, Harlin was red-hot and coming off the hits 'Die Hard' and 'Cliffhanger:' It was a good reminder, I think, in a way, that when you start believing in yourself too much, and thinking that you're invincible, that you're a genius, that someone brings you down and says, like, "OK, you're definitely not a genius, and you've had a good run, but you have to be humble and play by the rules." How badly was Harlin's career affected? His latest film, '5 Days of War,' opened on Aug. 19 in only six theaters. Made for a budget of $12 million, it's so far earned a mere $17,376, according to Box Office Mojo. So is 'Cutthroat Island' really that bad in retrospect? Would it do better now in a post-'Pirates of the Caribbean' era? [KCRW via Slashfilm] Watch Movie

Arnold Schwarzenegger could be taken Captive
Fresh from the announcement that he'll enjoy a beefier role in The Expendables 2, Deadline is reporting that Arnold Schwarzenegger is in talks to star in action thriller Captive. The former Governator would play a real estate magnate living in Brazil, who is captured and held for ransom in the back of an armoured prison truck. It sounds a little like a slightly more spacious (and slightly less subterranean) take on Buried. It's promising that Arnie isn't going to take on a role that's too physical, but will he be able to carry something heavily character-orientated?Before that, Schwarzenegger will shoot another actioner, Last Stand, which, intriguingly, is the US debut of Korean director Kim Ji-woon (A Tale Of Two Sisters, I Saw The Devil). There's currently nothing new to report on Cry Macho, the film that was expected to herald Schwarzenegger's return to acting after leaving political office, before problems in his private life seemingly derailed the project.Transformers 3 Dark Of The Moon Watch Online

'Rampart' cops changes
Law enforcement thriller "Rampart" -- premiering today in Toronto among the fest's most popular purchase products -- is really a study in contrasts: Not only in the stark high-contrast cinematography, however in the personality and interests of their makers. In line with the novel by James Ellroy, the celebrated crime author of "Whitened Jazz" and "L.A. Private," the film happens within the author's typical hardboiled masculine milieu within this situation, the LAPD's Rampart corruption scandal, carrying out a callous dirty cop performed by Woodsy Harrelson. But as it is been modified and directed by Oren Moverman, the sensitive indie film writer ("I am Not There") and director ("The Messenger"), the film version went from testosterone-fueled pulp to some thing "interior," based on Moverman."I am not likely to hide the truth that James and that i differ on several things,Inch stated Moverman, who had been first hired to rewrite Ellroy's crackling, though complicated script by Lightstream Pictures, producers of Moverman's directorial debut "The Messenger.""However I believe that tension is obvious within the movie," ongoing the Israel-born filmmaker. "You will see the character's behavior -- his racism, his sexism, his homophobia -- however i think the film is directed in ways where it does not celebrate him or justify him. It simply is definitely the culture he's in."Lightstream's Lawrence Inglee had talks along with other company directors, but ultimately made the decision that Moverman and Ellroy, originating from "such different finishes from the spectrum would through some alchemy create a really compelling film."Inglee stated "Rampart" also offers some parallels with "The Messenger," for the reason that both films cope with the effects from the actions of males in uniform, in both likely to war in Iraq, or even the roads of La. Inglee further noted an association to Moverman's own past."Oren was thinking about what it really means to become a officer in the nineteen nineties La, once they were operating like taking up soldiers," he stated.Moverman themself accepted he might possibly not have been probably the most apparent option to direct the project. He's never resided in L.A., for just one, and "never felt comfortable there." However it was that alienation from Los Angeles that assisted make "Rampart" distinct."Becoming an outsider informed everything," he stated. As opposed to the milky overcast skies that dominate most L.A.-set films, for instance, Moverman and the cinematographer Bobby Bukowski, shooting about the Alexa camera, elected for any more "overwhelming" sun light, with "the sun's rays overflowing through blinds and curtains," he stated. "That's type of the word what from the film."Making the film in La, however, almost sabotaged the project altogether, based on Inglee, because they anxiously waited to get a California tax credit. In the eleventh hour, first-time investor, lawyer and "Rampart" creating partner Ken Kao -- whose father co-founded Gps navigation technology company Garmin Corp. -- "made a decision to risk it even if the tax credit did not come through," Inglee stated. "Following a couple of harrowing days, it finally did come through."For Moverman, shooting within the town of angels was essential."I lost my shades initially when i first showed up in L.A. and that i was squinting and feeling, 'How can people function within this place?,'" he stated, "which really informed the script and also the movie."
