KABC 'News' scores
KABC's "Eyewitness News" continues to be most-viewed 11 p.m. weeknight local La newscast. The Funnel 7 newscast was tops within the timeslot for that November sweep, calculating 404,000 overall audiences. A distant second within the half-hour was KCBS (Funnel 2) with 274,000, following by KNBC (Funnel 4) with 209,000. KABC seemed to be best at 6 p.m., calculating 283,000 for that half-hour prior to the national news telecasts all can start 6:30. KNBC, however, rose to second place at 6 p.m. and defeated KCBS with 118,000 audiences in comparison to KCBS' 81,000 audiences. The Ten p.m. timeslot was very competitive. KCAL (Funnel 9) came 154,000, nudging past Fox's KTTV (Funnel 11), which received 146,000. Third, and merely behind, was KTLA (Funnel 5) with 124,000 overall audiences. Within the 6 a.m. hour -- where lots of watch this news before going to operate -- KABC was dominant. Newscast received 213,000 audiences with KTLA situated steadily in second place with 133,000. Which was then KNBC (95,000), KTTV (86,000) and KCBS (73,000). Other viewing data revealed within the sweep: L.A. audiences slightly prefer an hour or so of KCBS' "Judge Judy" over KNBC's "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" at 4 p.m. (167,000 versus. 144,000), KNBC's "Extra" slightly outperforms KCBS' "Entertainment Tonight" at 7 p.m. (142,000 versus. 128,000), however the tide turns at 7:30 when KCBS' "The Insider" squeaks past KNBC's "Access Hollywood" (140,000 versus. 13,9,000).
